It captures and forwards all the packets from the clients on that channel to a remote machine that runs Airopeek or Wireshark (packet analyzers for IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs). It includes information on time stamps, signal strength, packet size, and so on.

Mini IOS Version Mini-IOS software version.

IP Config

Parameter Description
IP Address IP address of the access point.
Static IP

Static IP address of the access point.

When an access point boots up, it tries to determine if its static IP address is configured or not. If the access point has been configured with a static IP address that is not valid on the network, the access point cannot join the Switch and cannot communicate with the rest of the network. In such a scenario, the only way to recover that access point is to manually open the access point door and connect a serial console for configuration purpose.

The access point can be configured in such a way that even if its static IP address is not valid on the network, it initiates a DHCP process to get a new IP address and use it for communication. This configuration enables the access point to join the Switchs on the network.

Note    An access point cannot discover the switch using the domain name system (DNS) resolution if a static IP address is configured for the access point, unless you specify a DNS server and the domain to which the access point belongs.

Values are the following:
  • Unchecked—When this check box is not selected, the static IP address is disabled and the access point initiates a DHCP process when it boots up to procure the IP address.
  • Checked—When this check box is selected, you can set the following:
    • The static IP address of the access point.
    • The subnet mask assigned to the access point IP address.
    • The gateway of the access point.

Time Statistics

Parameter Description
UP Time Displays the time since when the access point has been powered up in Date, Hours, Minutes and Seconds format.

Switch Associated Time

Displays the time since when the access point has been associated with the switch in Date, Hours, Minutes and Seconds format.

Switch Associated Latency

Displays the amount of time that the access point took, since it got associated with the switch in Date, Hours, Minutes and Seconds format.

Credentials

You can configure the following credentials for the access point:
  • Login Credentials
  • 802.1x Supplicant Credentials

Login Credentials

Parameter Description
Login Credential
Over-ride Global Credentials

Access point that is prevented from inheriting the global username, password, and enable password from the switch. The default value is unselected.

Username Unique username for this access point.
Password Unique password for this access point.
Enable Password Unique enable password for this access point.
802.1x Supplicant Credentials
